Best Virtual Try-On Apps for Shopify in 2026: Split by What You Sell

Best Shopify virtual try-on apps in 2026, split by category. Dated App Store prices for clothing photo try-on versus glasses, jewelry, beauty, and shoes.

The best virtual try-on app for a Shopify clothing store in 2026 is photo try-on on the product page. Shoppers upload a picture and see your garment on that photo. Antla is one of those apparel apps: Built for Shopify, 7-day trial, paid from $19.99/month.

Run a clothing SKU on https://antla.io/demo before you trust a roundup that ranks glasses AR next to a midi dress. Fittingbox’s Shopify roundup and GenLook’s own 2026 list name categories. They are less useful when a clothing merchant copies an eyewear price into a dress budget.

This page is the clothing-first shortlist. Every price, rating, and free-plan line was opened on the Shopify App Store on 7 October 2026. Empty cells mean the listing did not state it. Nothing here is a lab score.

The App Store puts three jobs in one aisle

Search “virtual try-on” inside Shopify and you get photo clothing apps, live-camera AR for faces and feet, and a few tools that try to do both. Shopify’s virtual fitting room guide treats AR overlays, AI photo generation, and size tools as related infrastructure. They are related the way a tape measure and a mirror are related. You can need both. You cannot swap them.

Shoppers do not care about that taxonomy. They care whether the dress looks like the studio shot on their shoulders. Shopify’s 2026 returns guide cites the NRF and Happy Returns 2025 landscape: an estimated 19.3% of online sales came back that year, against 15.8% for retail overall. Apparel and footwear sit above the online average because fit is hard to judge on a screen. Shopify names fit or sizing as a primary reason, then names bracketing: buy two sizes, keep one, ship the other back at your expense.

That is why “best app” is the wrong first question. Ask which return you are trying to prevent.

  • Wrong label (too small, too big): a size chart or size recommender.
  • Wrong picture (looked different, too revealing, odd length): a visual preview.
  • Wrong category of widget: an AR glasses engine on a knitwear catalog.

Antla does the picture job. It has no size chart or size recommendation of its own. It sits next to whatever size app you already run. The longer split is in virtual try-on vs size recommendation.

Shopify’s conversion-rate guide (22 August 2026) puts fashion, accessories, and apparel at 2.77% in its June industry table. That is a store-wide category average, not a try-on result. Treat it as a baseline for how hard apparel already is, then measure your own PDP.

These apps say shoppers upload a photo and see clothing on that photo. That is the shortlist if you sell garments.

Photta is not in that table. Its own Shopify guide says it is not a Shopify app: one script tag in theme.liquid, no App Store listing. I did not invent an App Store rating or plan for it.

What the table is good for: finding a clothing photo app that you can install from Shopify Admin. What it is not good for: declaring a winner from review counts. Three of those listings have 13 reviews or fewer. Two have zero. A 5.0 from three merchants is a sample, not a category ranking.

Read the listings for the actual product, not the star.

  • Antla listing: “From a single photo, show shoppers how good they look.” Works with existing size charts; it does not replace them. Trend lists sharing customization. Runway and Unlimited Fashion list Klaviyo. App Store Languages field: English.
  • GenLook listing: one photo, share or add to cart, “14+ storefront languages,” in-widget email capture. Free plan needs no paid commit for 10 try-ons.
  • TryPoint listing: photo try-on, GDPR line (“shopper photos auto-deleted, never used to train AI”), email capture, shopper share, optional reuse permission for UGC. PAYG exists if you hate unused monthly allotments.
  • TryOnCloud listing: photo upload, theme block, email capture after try-on. No reviews on the day we opened it.
  • TryOn Virtual listing: AI photo try-on for fashion, plus live AR for eyewear and watches. If you only sell dresses, the AR half is unused cost.
  • EganAI listing: selfie upload, theme app extension, “Try It On” button. No reviews.

I’d ignore any page that ranks these six against Fittingbox on one score. Fittingbox is glasses.

What a clothing product page actually needs

A clothing PDP already has photos, a size selector, reviews, and a sticky add-to-cart. Try-on has to earn a slot without becoming a seventh widget nobody taps.

Start from the hesitation that already shows up in tickets.

For dresses and tops, shoppers stall on length, neckline, and whether the fabric reads sheer. Photo try-on can answer that if your product image is a clean front view: collar, placket, print scale visible.

For denim, they stall on rise and how the leg falls. A preview that smears the wash is worse than no preview. Test distressed pairs, not only the rigid straight-leg.

For tailoring, shoulders decide the return. If the render moves the seam, you taught the shopper the wrong thing. For swim, coverage is the question: skip the app for that collection if the result looks painted on.

Shopify’s AR try-on explainer still mixes live-camera overlays with “upload a static photo.” On a clothing store, those are different installs. Live AR for a t-shirt usually needs a 3D garment. Photo try-on uses the images you already shot. Most small Shopify catalogs have photos. Very few have garment 3D files.

Placement matters more than the vendor pitch. Put the control near Add to cart, on mobile first. That same Shopify conversion-rate guide cites Contentsquare: mobile was 69.9% of website visits in 2026, with retail conversion 3.7% on desktop versus 2% on mobile. If upload fails in Safari, you did not ship try-on. You shipped a desktop novelty.

A preview is still not a tape measure. Color and silhouette can look close on a front-facing photo and miss on sheer fabric, extreme drape, or a cropped selfie. Do not sell it as fit proof.

Glasses, jewelry, makeup, and shoes are different products

If you sell frames, rings, lipstick, or sneakers, skip the clothing table and start here. Prices and ratings are from the same day, 7 October 2026.

Camweara’s listing also names clothes. Live AR on a moving body is still a different problem than dressing a still photo. If earrings are your catalog, Camweara’s review mix is more relevant than a clothing photo app. Banuba ($319/month) and YouCam ($379/month) are beauty and eyewear budgets. Kivisense Commercial at $888/month for 10 footwear SKUs is the reminder that this search phrase has no single price band.

Run the trial on your own catalog, not a vendor demo

Every apparel app above that I could open offers either a free plan or a trial. Use it as a merchandising test, not as a week of playing with someone else’s hoodie.

  1. Pick five SKUs that already generate “looked different” tickets. Include one print, one dark color, one long hem, one stretch knit, one structured piece.
  2. Use front-facing product images. If images[0] is a back shot, do not feed it to try-on and then blame the model.
  3. Install as a theme app block on a duplicate theme. How to add virtual try-on to Shopify is the install sequence. Online Store 2.0 themes, including Dawn, take an app block; notes live on Shopify theme virtual try-on compatibility.
  4. QA on a phone. Upload from camera roll, from a messy bedroom, with jewelry on. If the control hides under a sticky cart bar, move it.
  5. Score the render, not the landing page. Color, print, sleeve length, and whether extra hoods appeared. If the app invents pockets, it failed that SKU.
  6. Keep your size app. Try-on does not pick S/M/L.

A 7-day window is enough to fail a vendor. It is not enough to publish a conversion case study. Across more than 500,000 Antla try-ons, users who complete a preview convert at 3.8%. That is a try-on-user cohort rate, not store-wide lift, and the method sits on Shopify virtual try-on conversion. Do not treat it as a promise that your store will move from 1% to 3.8%.

Published Antla facts for this comparison

This is what Antla publishes, not what third-party roundups copy.

Product. Photo try-on on Shopify product pages. Shoppers upload one photo. No shopper app download. Feature overview.

Pricing, 7 October 2026, from antla.io/pricing, matching the App Store:

  • Every plan includes a 7-day free trial. There is no free plan.
  • Trend: $19.99/month. 100 try-ons, then $0.16. Listing: full sharing customization. Pricing page lists Klaviyo; the App Store Trend feature list does not.
  • Runway: $49.99/month. 500 try-ons, then $0.12. Customization, priority support, custom events, Klaviyo on both the pricing page and the listing.
  • Unlimited Fashion: $199.99/month. 2,000 try-ons, then $0.09. Priority generation, dedicated support, customer success manager, dedicated server. Listing also: unlimited shares, Klaviyo.

This page only names Klaviyo as an Antla integration where the listing or pricing page names it.

Rating. 5.0 from 61 reviews on 7 October 2026. Text only. No Review or aggregateRating markup on Antla here.

Size. No size chart. No size recommendation. Works alongside any Shopify size app.

Photos. Antla’s privacy policy states: “Images are deleted and not accessible within 72 hours.” This page does not say images are never stored, or that they are unused for training.

Certifications. Built for Shopify is on the listing. Antla is not SOC 2 or ISO certified.

What this page will not claim. No 35% conversion lift, no 30% return drop, no 3x engagement, no 10x ROI, no named customers, no “100+ brands.” If you saw those on a marketing page, they are not used here.

Choose GenLook if you want a free plan, a published storefront-language list, and in-widget email capture as listing facts. Choose TryPoint if PAYG and a written photo-deletion-plus-no-training line matter more than a 7-day Antla trial. Choose Antla if you want a clothing photo try-on with a 7-day trial, dated plans from $19.99/month, and a 72-hour deletion sentence you can quote. Then still run the five-SKU test. Listings do not render your drape.

Common questions

What is the best virtual try-on app for Shopify clothing stores in 2026?

For garments, pick a photo try-on app you can install from the App Store and test on your own SKUs. Antla, GenLook, and TryPoint are the clothing listings with Built for Shopify badges and published reviews as of 7 October 2026. “Best” is the one that renders your fabric without inventing construction details.

Is there a free virtual try-on app for Shopify?

Yes, with limits. GenLook lists 10 try-ons/month free. TryPoint lists 20. TryOnCloud, TryOn Virtual, and EganAI also publish free tiers. Antla does not: it publishes a 7-day trial, then paid plans from $19.99/month.

Do these apps work with any Shopify theme?

Theme app extensions work on Online Store 2.0 themes, including Dawn. Vintage themes may need extra work. Confirm on a duplicate theme, on mobile, before you uninstall anything else.

Does Antla recommend a size?

No. Antla has no size chart or size recommendation of its own. Keep your existing size app.

What happens to customer photos in Antla?

Antla’s privacy policy states: “Images are deleted and not accessible within 72 hours.”

Should I install Fittingbox for a clothing store?

No. Fittingbox’s listing is glasses virtual try-on. Use it for frames. Use a clothing photo app for apparel.

Is Antla SOC 2 or ISO certified?

No.
